FREE Flight to Las Vegas: Canadian Travel Hacking

aeroplan

This offer is valid for Canadians only.  I’m looking into something similar for people in the USA as well.

Ever wanted to bring your kids to Disneyland, see the light and spectacles of Las Vegas, or visit family somewhere cross country?  Wouldn’t it be great if this could be done either free?  With travel hacking this is entirely possible.

Travel hacking is a method to use gather points from loyalty programs, or other areas, and travel for free or at a highly discounted price.  Normally, since these points are so rewarding, they take years and years to accumulate, and because of this, people think its worthless and time consuming, and so never try, but what if there’s an easier way?  Here’s the way to get a free flight anywhere in North America, including Las Vegas of course, with Air Canada’s Aeroplan loyalty program.

Right now, American Express is having a friends and family promotion where you are able to get 30,000 Aeroplan points for free, keeping in mind that you only need 25,000 for a free round-trip flight anywhere in North America.  You might think that it’s just another credit card deal, and normally, I would agree with you, but with this deal, in just the last 2 months alone, I’ve been able to earn over 300,000 points.  I just booked a trip for 2 to Asia in Business Class the entire way, stopping at Manila, Singapore and Thailand, and it was basically free!

  • With 30,000 free Aeroplan points, you can get a round-trip flight anywhere in North America for free!  Or save up more points and travel to other destinations for free!  See where else you can fly with this flight rewards chart.
    rewards-chart
  • The first year is absolutely free, so if you decide the card is not for you, just cancel it and you get to keep the 30,000 free Aeroplan points!
  • Amex is a charge card, not a credit card, which means that it doesn’t hit your credit score as hard a credit card would.  The difference between the 2 is that you must pay off your balance every month, or else you’ll be charged a higher interest rate.  If you always pay off your card, then it doesn’t even matter!  Also, finally a card that you can use at Costco!
  • The very best part of this deal, and the reason I’ve earned over 300,000 points in the last 2 months is that Amex has a referral program.  If you refer someone to sign up for this card under you, you get 10,000 bonus points!  There is no limit on what you can earn!

If you consider all the points, this is a deal you can’t ignore!  Worst case, you take the 30,000 free points, and cancel the card before the fee is up, and best case, you refer plenty of friends and family and manage to rack up your very own round-the-world-trip!  The original plan was just to sign up, get the 30,000 points, and then refer my wife for another 40,000 points, but a great deal sells itself and it’s been astonishingly easy to get referrals.

Click here to get your Free Flight and start your Travel Hacking now!

If you have any questions about this or Aeroplan, feel free to ask here and I will reply as soon as I can.

Why All Trips Become “Groupon Trips”!

Groupon Vouchers Ray Lauren

Lauren from Groupon, Raymond from JustVegasDeals

I like to travel a lot, and Las Vegas is one of my favourite destinations.  As a deal hunter, I like get the best value for my money.  I book my flights when there are seat sales, book and re-book my hotels if there’s a better promotion, and check out Groupon every day to see what kind of deals are available.  I’ve coined this as my “Groupon Trips”, where I try to fill all my meals and activities with Groupon vouchers, and Las Vegas is probably the city with the most options available!

During my most recent 6-day Vegas trip in January 2014, attending a conference for bloggers and internet marketers (Affiliate Summit), I had the privilege of meeting up with representatives from Groupon, and our conversation eventually lead to whether I used Groupons or not.  This is when I reached into my bag and brought out a stack of Groupons I purchased, printed, and planned on using for the trip!  Here’s the breakdown of what me and a friend used during my last trip and how much we saved!

Restaurant and Buffet Deals:

Total Spent: $210.99 ($411.98 value)
Total Savings: $200.99

Activity and Entertainment Deals:

Total Spent: $307 ($777 value)
Total Savings: $470

So by planning all my meals and activities ahead, I managed to save $670.99!  The best part of all of this is that most of the restaurants and activities are highly rated, we would’ve eaten at most of these places, and done most of these activities at full price anyways!  So for your next trip, whether in Las Vegas or anywhere else, try to plan ahead, see what Groupon deals are available, and hopefully you can save as much as I did on your very own “Groupon Trip”!

Las Vegas Top 10 Best Pools

Las Vegas Top 10 Best Pools

las-vegas-beaches_mandalay_bay

Las Vegas is famous for its Strip, its hotels and their magnificent pools.  Some are fun and exciting, and others are pure, laid-back relaxation, so go get ready for pool season and check out our top 10 pools in Las Vegas.  Just be aware that to enter the pool complexes of the hotels, you probably need to be a guest or will have to pay a fee, but anyone should be able to enter the ones listed below.

1. Mandalay Beach
http://www.mandalaybay.com/beach/

Mandalay Bay Beach is the most action-packed pool on far south strip.  The beach features a relaxing lazy river experience with or without inner tubes, a great recreational wave pool where you can body surf on the waves into the shore, and real California sand!  In addition to those amazing features, the 11-acre beach contains four additional quieter pools to swim in and two jacuzzi’s to relax in.  Try your hand in the beachside casino, have a meal at the Beach Bar & Grill, grab a drink at the Bikini Bar or from any of the red bikini-clad servers walking around, or relax in Moorea Beach, Mandalay Bay’s European-style pool experience.  If you want the option for an even greater resortist experience, you can rent one of their many cabanas, daybeds, bungalows, or personalized villas.  You will never be at a loss of things to do at the Mandalay Bay Beach.

2. Garden of the Gods Pool Oasis at Caesar’s Palace
http://www.caesarspalace.com/things-to-do/garden-of-the-gods-pool-oasis.html#.UnpUXPl2F8E

Caesar’s Palace– a classic Vegas escape featuring five acres of the Garden of the Gods pool.  It offers eight different pools surrounded by beautiful Roman architecture and a clean, relaxing design.  With so much space you won’t know where to start.  Immerse yourself in cool waters freshened by waterfalls and the stark white of the Greek statues.  Each pool has a different purpose; the Fortuna pool for swim-up blackjack, the Venus pool for the European topless experience, the Temple pool for family-friendliness, the Neptune pool for casual laps, and even the Bacchus pool for celebrities and the like alone.  Rent a daybed for a flexibly comfortable lounge or go all out and rent a modern, nautical-style cabana.

3. Cosmopolitan 3 Pool District
http://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/explore/pools-and-cabanas.aspx

For the new kid on the block, they sure have made some waves with their rooftop Boulevard pool.  Considered one of the hippest pools on the strip it contains sweeping city views, a shaded area for table games such as foosball and billiards, special events, innovative alcoholic concoctions, and a 65’ digital marquee screen.  Their upper-level Marquee pool boasts private cabanas with their own individual infinity pools and Monday night showcases “Dive-In Movies”.  For a posh and semi-wild adult escape, Cosmopolitan may be for you.

4. The Mirage Pool
http://www.mirage.com/amenities/the-mirage-pool.aspx

Mirage represents a beautiful mix of a creative hotel pool with magnificent landscaping.  The area of water is fascinatingly massive and emanates the idea that you could swim there forever.  They focused on quality over quantity with just two perfect pools and two secluded whirlpools.  It is considered one of the best pool retreats in Vegas for a reason.

5. Go Pool
http://www.flamingolasvegas.com/things-to-do/go-pool.html#.UnpUbPl2F8E

Flamingo– options for families and die-hard partiers alike.  An experience itself, the Wildlife Habitat of the Flamingo Hotel provides lush greenery, wandering pink flamingos, and picturesque waterfalls.  Follow the path back to the extensive pool complex featuring pools for adults and kids.  The family-friendly pool features a maze of waterslides and the GO pool, which becomes a party pool during busier hours, is complete with sitting ledges and a full grotto beneath the large, cascading waterfall.  It’s an adult-only retreat where you can rent cabanas with startling amenities and play poolside blackjack.  When the party happens, you will see crazy crowds, flowing alcohol, and scantily clad dancers on landings.  Follow the trail past the pool to find the wedding chapel, tennis courts, and more interesting monuments.

6. MGM Grand Pool
http://www.mgmgrand.com/amenities/grand-pool-complex.aspx

MGM Grand- An island oasis in the desert.  Whether you like it wild or you like it calm, you can plan around different times to experience either in this jungle oasis.  Boasting fresh trees and greenery, hidden whirlpool nooks, and a relaxing lazy river, the complex has a little something for everyone.  Visit the Director’s adult only pool as an escape from the family-friendliness or choose a quiet spot throughout the complex to just sit and enjoy not being able to see the forest through the trees.  A real gem of beauty, action, and options in the middle of the desert, the MGM Pool will make you feel like a star!

7. Monte Carlo Pool
http://www.montecarlo.com/pool-amenities/pool.aspx

Monte Carlo features an outdoor paradise complete with the first strip wave pool, a lazy river, and a sand volleyball court.  They regularly have DJ’s and MC’s pumping out the music, volleyball competitions, weekend pool parties, and poolside food service.  Everything you want is at your fingertips including a kiddie pool complete with mini lounge chairs and available admission for non-guests.  This pool is known more for a family-friendly spot than a party pool so if you want to avoid the crazy party scene, this is a great place to kick back and relax poolside.

8. Bellagio Pools and Courtyards
http://www.bellagio.com/amenities/pools-and-courtyards.aspx

Bellagio– Who can resist the faux Italian villas and the atmosphere where no detail is overlooked.  Take in the scenery from the balcony before descending down the stairs into aquatic oblivion.  Five pools grace the beautiful grounds for a calming, luxurious experience on a beautiful tiled cement deck.  Athletes will love the lap pools for their morning routine and daytime loungers will appreciate the escape from the action of the strip.  Dine at the poolside café, take a soothing dip in one of the four whirlpools, or order a massage poolside.  For upscale pampering, Bellagio has it all.

9. Tropicana Pool
http://www.troplv.com/las-vegas/pool-spa-fitness/tropicana-pool

The Tropicana Resort’s newly renovated pool complex sits on four acres of South Beach-inspired landscaping.  The grounds include a large and beautiful main pool, the Lagoon, an adult-only retreat, and a six foot deep Garden Pool.  With tropical lagoons, wild waterfalls, plush daybeds, shaded eating areas, and peaceful winding paths, you could spend the entire day lost in another world.  The grounds are impeccably manicured and the offset jacuzzis offer some peaceful reprieve from the fun in the pool.  To feed your wilder side, visit the Lagoon Pool for the music, eye candy, and swim-up blackjack that get your heart pumping.  The fun doesn’t stop for the winter months when a portion of the complex is enclosed for a heated 24 hour a day experience.

10. Excalibur Pool
http://www.excalibur.com/amenities/pool.aspx

Excalibur’s pool complex is probably the most underrated pool on the strip.  Freshly renovated in 2007, the area features 30,000 square feet of sundeck, four different pools, three Jacuzzi’s, and Drenched, their poolside restaurant.  They thought of it all when they designed the complex; two pools are for casual swim, one pool is family-friendly with two waterslides to keep the kids entertained, and one pool and Jacuzzi are located in the back corner with a fire pit and reserved for those over 21 only.  The area is lined with tons of lounge chairs, private cabanas, and convenient amenities.
